PouchPath is a local-first nicotine-pouch tracking and quit-planning app. It does not require an account and does not include advertising, analytics, tracking, or a developer-operated server.

Data PouchPath handles

If you choose to enter it, PouchPath can store pouch logs, package-label nicotine strength, times and triggers, craving and mood check-ins, withdrawal symptoms, lapse reflections, quit-plan details, motivations, supporter contact details, daily reflections, records of other nicotine use, product presets, and mouth-check notes or optional photos.

Local storage and device backup

PouchPath stores its records in protected files in the app container. By default, Apple may include those files in iCloud Backup or an encrypted computer backup. You can exclude future PouchPath files from device backups in More → Privacy & Data. Apple may retain older backups according to your Apple Account and backup settings.

Optional mouth-check photos stay in PouchPath’s protected local photo vault. They are not included in PouchPath exports or private CloudKit sync and follow the device-backup setting you choose.

Optional private iCloud sync

Cross-device sync is off by default. If you enable it, PouchPath stores one encrypted payload in your Apple Account’s private CloudKit database. This is separate from iCloud Backup. Turning sync off stops future synchronization but does not delete the cloud copy unless you choose Turn off and delete iCloud copy or Erase all data.

Widget and Apple Watch

The widget stores a small current-plan summary and queued quick logs in the shared app-group container. Those transient files are protected and excluded from device backup. Apple Watch quick logs are delivered to the paired iPhone through WatchConnectivity. Event identifiers are used only to avoid duplicate delivery.

Notifications

Reminders are optional and scheduled locally through Apple’s notification system. Neutral previews are available so lock-screen text does not mention nicotine or pouches.

Export, import, retention, and deletion

You can export a restorable JSON backup or readable CSV, preview and import a backup using merge or replace, delete individual records, delete older history, delete the private CloudKit copy, or erase all PouchPath data. Exported files are controlled by the destination you choose in Apple’s share or save interface. A protected pre-import recovery copy is kept locally until you erase app data.

If verified CloudKit deletion fails, PouchPath keeps the local copy so you can retry. You may instead explicitly erase only the current device, with a warning that the cloud copy remains.

Data collection and sharing

The developer does not receive, sell, rent, or share PouchPath records. The app contains no analytics or advertising SDK. Apple processes device backup, CloudKit, notifications, App Store, and TestFlight data under Apple’s terms and privacy policy.

PouchPath is for education and self-management, not medical advice. Nicotine is addictive. Nicotine pouches are not FDA-approved quit-smoking medicines.
